Teen Weight Loss Tips & Programs

It seems to be right that overweight parent has significant role in their teenage girl obesity, because their girl learns eating habits directly from them. If it is just the case, parent should also play important role in losing their teenage girl’s weight. Teen weight loss plan will be successful if the girl has strong commitment to do it and supported by her parent. If it also happens to your teen, she will be able to lose her weight with your support and positive reinforcement.

Teen weight loss plan will always depend on two main efforts; strong commitment and choosing the right program. Teens’ bodies are still growing and changing and, therefore they need to eat nutritious foods but without drastic calorie restriction. All she needs is to adjust her eating habits and increase her metabolism by burning calories.

Teen weight loss plan should be focused on two main things; diet and nutrition and exercise.

Diet and Nutrition

o    To have a diet does not mean that you have to cut meals or eat as little as possible. That is misconception and counterproductive because the best way to lose weight is to speed up your metabolism. Eating smaller meals more often will be a good way to stimulate the metabolism. Eating every two to three hours is good, so that you will eat six to eight small meals a day. Doing this will keep your metabolisms working consistently without being hungry and overeating.

o    Eating smaller meals more often is not enough. You should also adjust the type of food you eat. Try as possible to avoid trans-fat, saturated fat, sugar, and simple carbohydrates. Avoid eating junk foods because they are high in fat, calories, and sugar. Eat more fruits and vegetables instead of fatty foods which are rich in calories and fat.

Exercise


o    Exercises are very important to help you speedup your metabolism. You can choose exercises that you like most. You need to boost your metabolism and burn your calorie through exercise. You do not need to take heavy exercises and castigate yourself. All you need is to make your body more active even by doing something you like, such as aerobic training. You can also choose one of these easy exercises, biking, running, and swimming.
